When selecting a site for your foundation, choose a flat, level surface that will be stable and secure. Locate your greenhouse close to power and water, while also considering water drainage, easy access, and 6 hours or more of available sunlight.
The rules for the permit process depends on your municipality but generally speaking, a structure less than 120 square feet that is not considered permanent (installed on a wood foundation for example) does not require a permit.
Most common foundations are wood frame or concrete. Wood frames are easy and allow for flexibility in case it must be moved. For a larger greenhouse (over 100 sq. ft.) a 6″ x 6″ beam is recommended. Concrete is a more permanent site and will last for generations.
